DENMARK
European Commission notified about requirements for reporting game data
Denmark has notified the European Commission about the Gambling Authority's (DGA) reporting requirements for game data. The draft specifies the type and format of data for various games like fixed-odds betting, casino games, and poker. It mandates compact reporting for system bets with over 256 combinations. The standstill period for the notification ends on June 12, 2025.
Executive order on money laundering register published
An executive order was published on March 1 requiring Danish-based gambling operators offering services in other EU or EEA countries to register in the DGA’s money laundering register. This does not apply to operators licensed under the Danish Gambling Act. Registrations must follow the DGA's notification form, with additional details outlined in Section 4 of the order. The order takes effect on July 1, 2025.
PERU
Banking regulator posts draft AML regulations for remote gaming and betting companies
Peru's Superintendence of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS) has released a draft regulation addressing AML standards for legal entities in online gaming. The regulation outlines components such as AML training, a prevention manual, risk factors, suspicious transaction reporting, compliance officer duties, annual reports, and internal audits.
MALTA
Regulator announces closed consultation on proposed amendments to financial requirements
On March 10, the Malta Gaming Authority launched a closed consultation on proposed changes to financial requirements under Directive 3 of 2018. The amendments aim to enhance the MGA's efficiency, regulatory effectiveness, and risk-based approach. Feedback can be submitted until April 25.
UK
New rules on consumer promotions
The UK Gambling Commission has announced new rules - effective from December 19, 2025 - to improve the safety and simplicity of promotional offers. Key changes include banning mixed product promotions requiring multiple gambling activities and capping bonus wagering requirements at 10. The Social Responsibility Code will also be updated, removing provisions tying bonus benefits to gambling frequency or duration.
Regulator opens consultation on deposit limits
The UKGC has also initiated a consultation to clarify 'deposit limits' and other financial limits in its Remote Gambling and Software Technical Standards (RTS). Aimed at empowering consumers to better control their gambling, the changes align with the 2023 white paper "High stakes: gambling reform for the digital age" and will take effect on October 31, 2025.
Confirmed date for implementation of online slots stake limits
The UKGC has announced the effective dates for online slot stake limits. The £5 limit for players aged 25+ starts on April 9 and the £2 limit for players aged 18-24 begins on May 21.
ROMANIA
Order concerning changes to be notified to the Romanian gambling regulator published
On March 21, the Romanian National Gambling Office (ONJN) issued an order detailing changes that Class 1 and Class 2 licensees must notify, including modifications to gambling devices, beneficiary identity, company representatives, office details, name, shared capital, and supplier contracts. The order also addresses updates to criminal records and police approvals. It takes effect immediately and repeals conflicting provisions.
